Press Release: Scorey Signs with Polo G’s Capalot/ODA Records, in partnership with Columbia Records, as it’s First Artist!
It is with great pride and excitement that I announce that I have officially signed as the first artist under the management and direction of Capalot/ODA Records in partnership with Columbia Records. If you've been following my music over the past year, you probably remember seeing me share my performance on Polo G’s – Die A Legend Tour in October 2019.
To give a brief history of how I got started, it all began as a side interest just kicking it with my group of friends in Syracuse, NY, sleeping on my grandma’s porch and playing basketball in the street. Next thing you know, I was in the recording studio putting out covers and little snips of music for the town and doing features with my good friend Tunez. Over a year ago, I released my first tracks with visuals, “No Choice” and “Freddy Krueger,” which gained attention. It was when my video, “Freddy Krueger,” was shared on Lil Romo - another Chicago Rapper’s - story, and Polo G saw it and DM’ed me. This was the start of the relationship.
Prior to the Corona Virus outbreak, I released the track with visuals to Traffic to market my rap abilities and build my brand. During the pandemic outbreak, I continued to write music and build followers on social media. The studio was closed, so I released previously recorded tracks with videos to Talk to Me and PainSicken, which gained increasing views on YouTube and increasing numbers on streaming platforms.
I began working heavily with my music when my best friend Zachary Holloway aka (Zuly) was shot and killed in May 2020 in Syracuse, NY. In honor of Zuly, I released the track and visuals to Storm, as this was the last video that Zuly was present in. This track gained lots of attention and views, over 750k on YouTube and over 300k on streaming platforms, and A&Rs began reaching out to me. Devastated by this tragedy, but determined to live out our dreams, I flew out to LA for some hands-on work in the studio there. While in LA, on what would have been Zuly’s 20th birthday (July 4, 2020), I released the track and visuals to Victim, which was filmed in the neighborhood, with Zuly Gang, on the day of his funeral. This track also gained a lot of attention with over 1.5M views on YouTube and over 800k streams, and sparked more attention and calls from A&Rs.
During those months in LA, the Capalot/ODA & Columbia family opened its doors and helped me express my pain through my music. I am grateful and appreciative. I’ve spent a lot of late nights and early mornings grinding in the studio to deliver great music. It was during our recording sessions of my most recent single, "Moods," the opportunity was presented to join the label as its FIRST artist. And without hesitation, I accepted the offer! Polo is truly my brother and I am humble and excited to work with him. I released Moods on September 1, 2020 after the announcement of signing to ODA/Columbia, and exactly one year from the date I released Freddy Krueger, the track that caught his attention. Moods has been my most popular track yet with a fire video and cameo appearances by PoloG, Lil TJ, Blueface and DDG. Moods have surpassed 4.5M views on YouTube and over 6M on streaming platforms. I am continuing to work, writing and recording new material, and developing tracks for my first release under the label. I have shared some unreleased snippets and fans are waiting with anticipation.
